How do I sign up?
Sign up is easy and quick. You can either sign up online or call 817-636-2089 to receive sign up information. Either option should take you under five minutes to fill out and have it sent in.
Do I have to return the cylinder within a certain time frame?
No. There are no time limits on how long you can have a cylinder. However the quicker you return your cylinder the quicker you can get paid!
What about papers for my EPA records?
We will provide you with all the required EPA paperwork. Pure Chem is an EPA certified reclaim facility.
Do I have to maintain the cylinder?
No. Pure Chem will send you a cylinder that is DOT certified and in good condition. All maintenance will be the responsibility of Pure Chem.
How long will it take to transfer and will I need any special equipment?
Transferring from your recovery cylinders into a Pure Chem cylinder is easy. Utilizing the push method of transferring using any standard recovery unit, the transfer rate is 10 lbs of refrigerant per minute. Please see Fast Transfer for more details.
How do I know when the cylinder is full?
Pure Chem provides a refrigerant transfer weight card with each cylinder. This allows you to track the amount of refrigerant each time you transfer. For more accurate estimates, we suggest that you weigh the smaller recovery cylinder before transferring and then simply subtract the tare weight to get the net amount of refrigerant.
For a 240 lb cylinder, a simple bathroom scale can be a good option. The cylinder can be laid on its side on top of the scale. Most scales can handle the necessary total weight of a full cylinder, 280-320 lbs.
For a 1000 lb. cylinder, larger scales can be purchased, however these are not necessary for our program to work. A majority of people on our program use the weight card we provide. Proper weight card records should give you a good estimation of the amount of refrigerant in your cylinder.
How does shipping work?
Pure Chem will pay for all of the shipping costs as long as the minimum fill requirement is met. Please see Fill Limits for more information.
When your cylinder is ready for return, please make sure the following things are complete:
- Make sure the Green R-22 and the Green Non-Flammable Diamond stickers are placed on your cylinder. These stickers are provided by Pure Chem and attached in a small plastic pouch on the side of each cylinder.
- Make sure the return address label provided by your Pure Chem Rep is attached to the cylinder.
- Have the Bill of Lading ready for the driver upon arrival.
What if I don’t have a forklift or loading dock?
No problem! You can still be on our R-22 buyback program. Whenever you sign up for the program, please indicate in the space provided on our cylinder deposit form that you do not have these capabilities. We will arrange for a truck with a lift gate to deliver and pick up your cylinders.
How does testing and payment work?
When your cylinder arrives to our facilities it is weighed and then tested by our laboratory using state of the art Gas Chromatographs. Once the R-22 is tested you will receive a check within 30 days, and the lab results are included with payment if the refrigerant was less tha 99.5% pure.
